The best way, I have found, to receive compliments from complete strangers is when I wear my set of dried orange earrings out on then town. By-passers to baristas strike up conversations due to them and it is always extra fun to proclaim that they are in fact the result of a simple diy.
All you need to make your own pair is a oven, a citrus fruit of choice (I prefer orange as it remains its vibrant colour) and a couple of hours to spare. They also make for a pretty garland for the festive season!
DIY ORANGE EARRINGS
Slice the citrus in ½ cm thin slices then carefully remove the seeds with the blade of the knife.
Spread out on an oven tray covered with parchment paper. Place in oven set to 65-75c. Bake for 4 hours, flipping the citrus slices over every hour until the fruit is dried (but not completely shriveled up.)
Once dried, attach an earring hook with some wire - et voila!
